Weight loss myths are everywhere. But what is a myth anyway? A myth is a story, an idea, or a concept that is invented. As far as we are concerned, it is something that is not true.

Why do most people believe in myths? Because many weight loss myths are convincing and they sound true to us, especially if we read it on a trustworthy source. This is the nature of the human condition. When you plan on losing weight you have to get the facts about weight loss. Knowing what the weight loss myths are will stop you from falling for them.

To help you differentiate myths from truth, here is a sample dose of current weight loss myths.

Not Eating is the best way to drop pounds - Yes, probably. But this is just short term. If you stopped eating right now or if you want to leave out meals as a strategy of losing weight then try again. Fasting makes you more hungry thus you crave more food. You may eat twice daily or once per day but the volume, the amount that you eat will be twice as much as usual. It is simply human instinct.

When you hold back your body of the food that it is used to eating, the tendency is you will stuff yourself when you finally eat.

Don't Have Carbohydrates to lose weight - This is a weight loss myths that is commonly taken as fact by many people. What you hear is that carbohydrates make you fat, or advance making you fat. This is not entirely true. Your body needs carbohydrates for energy. When digested, these carbohydrates are used for energy. Roughly one third of what you eat should be made up of carbohydrates. The danger lies in having too much carbohydrates and then not getting enough exercise to burn the reserved energy.

Never Eat Sweets - Many weight loss gurus would say that you should avoid simple sugars entirely. The simple truth is you can have some once in a while. Just keep it in moderation. You want to feel gratified not only physically emotionally too. Having a sweet once in a while also keeps you motivated when you reward yourself for your hard work.

The best time to eat sugar is usually after exercise. Your body will metabolize that simple sugar and does not store the calories. A great post exercise meal would be something high in protein and simple carbohydrates.

You Don't Need Exercise when You Eat Less - It is never a good plan to not exercise. Exercise will help improve your metabolism When you exercise you develop muscles and drop those excess fat that you have. Not only will you look great but you will feel great as well.

It's very helpful to learn how to distinguish the truth from myths. These weight loss myths should help you get started.
